Our mandate spans 10 countries of the Eastern Africa region; Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi and Zambia.
The Institute’s efforts are geared towards understanding the existing capacity needs and gaps of the grain value chain stakeholders and proactively responding to them by collectively and collaboratively designing and delivering solutions through training, research, technical advisory and support, mentorship and consultancy services. The overall outcome is enhanced competitiveness of the grain sector with assured optimum returns on investments for all the stakeholders as a result of a functional regional structured trading system.
EAGC’s Regional Agricultural Trade Intelligence Network (RATIN) plays a critical role in strengthening food security and market efficiency across Eastern Africa region.
By providing real‑time, reliable, and actionable market and trade intelligence, RATIN empowers farmers/producers, traders, processors, and policymakers to make informed decisions that reduce price volatility, improve trade flows, and unlock regional grain market opportunities.
Ci4G delivers localized climate intelligence that aids the prevention of post‑harvest losses and boosts grain production. Through its advisories for farmers, aggregators, and grain traders, Ci4G helps communities make climate‑smart decisions that protect farmer harvests and strengthen food security.
The program currently serves four major grain value chains—maize, beans, sorghum, and green grams.
