By bringing together actors from across the value chain, EAGC fosters collaboration, market efficiency, and a more integrated regional grain trading ecosystem.
The Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) membership is open to stakeholders who are actively engaged at any stage of the grain value chain. This includes participants in production, aggregation, trade, processing, finance, transport and logistics, export and import, warehousing, input supply, and other related services that support the functioning of grain markets.
Membership is granted to companies or organisations rather than individuals, with each member entity appointing an authorised representative to participate and make decisions on its behalf. All member organisations must be legally registered and in good standing.
The team is available to provide detailed information on membership categories, requirements, benefits, and the application process, and to support you with any related inquiries.

EAGC Membership has three categories: Active, Affiliate and Associate
Active members are members who join as individual companies, cooperatives, associations, or other types of representative organisations from the three core grain sub-sectors; farmers/grain producers, traders and processors. Active members have voting rights, representational privileges, and access to all services offered by the Council.
Key associations that represent one or more recognised grain sub-sectors (farmers/producers, traders and processors) at the national level can join EAGC as Affiliate members. Each organisation shall have the right to one vote representing its members’ views.
The Affiliated association as a single unit, has the same rights and access to services as an Active member, but members of these associations must join the Council directly as Active members in order to benefit from the full range of EAGC services. As an alternative, members of these associations may choose to join the Council as a Recorded affiliate member.
Recorded Affiliate Member
An organisation that is a Recorded affiliate may register their contracts with the Council and build up a history. However, a Recorded Affiliate member has no voting right or the right to discounted member service costs or othe EAGC member benefits.
This is a broad member base which includes allied industries, service providers, international organisations and interested institutions who operate within and outside the Council’s area of operation. Although services are not focused on Associate members, nor are they involved in the governance process, Associate members are strongly encouraged to participate in EAGC activities, and lend active technical and other support to EAGC programs and services. They may enjoy event discounts at the discretion of the EAGC board.
The Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) is founded, held in trust, and governed by its Active and Affiliate Members, with all services designed to address their needs and priorities. Members, together with the Board, have the authority to introduce or revise membership categories through a constitutional amendment approved in accordance with the agreed constitutional process.
